The DAAD Study Scholarship for STEM Disciplines supports high-achieving students from developing and emerging countries who want to pursue a Master’s degree in mathematics, computer science, natural sciences or engineering at a German university.
The scholarship is available for full-time, on-campus Master’s programmes beginning in the winter semester 2027/28.

Who Can Apply?
The scholarship is aimed at high-achieving students from developing and emerging countries.
Applicants must have completed a first university degree, such as a Bachelor’s degree, that is recognised in Germany by the application deadline.
Applicants who already hold a Master’s degree by the application deadline are not eligible.
Applicants must also meet the admission requirements for their chosen Master’s programme in Germany.
The selected Master’s programme must be full-time, on-campus and tuition-free at a German state or state-recognised university.
Funding and Benefits
The scholarship provides:
€992 per month
Health, accident and personal liability insurance
Travel allowance upon application
€460 annual study allowance
Additional benefits may be available under certain conditions, including a monthly rent subsidy and family allowance.
DAAD does not cover tuition fees. The Master’s programme must therefore be tuition-free.
Language Requirements
Applicants must provide proof of their current language proficiency for the chosen Master’s programme.
At least B1 level is required when applying for the DAAD scholarship. Applicants must also meet the language requirements of the German university and Master’s programme they choose.

DAAD states that application deadlines are updated annually. Applicants should check the official scholarship page for the confirmed deadline before applying.
Applications for this scholarship programme are possible from 1 June until the stated application deadline.

Passport or national identity document
Applicants who have not yet received admission to their chosen Master’s programme at the time of the DAAD application must provide the admission notification before the scholarship funding begins.
